The game store at night: a glowing GAME sign over red awnings, shoppers browsing behind the windows

Game Store Simulator

Open the doors, stock the shelves and turn a corner shop into the town's favourite video game store.

Your store, your rules

$1,000 and an empty shop

You start with one Game Shelf, a glass console case, a checkout and three boxes of stock in the back room. Everything after that is up to you: what to order, where the shelves go, who to hire and how much to pay for that dusty old cartridge a collector just brought in.

Walk your store in first person. Carry boxes in from the stockroom, fill the cubbies, scan games at the till and count out change. Then go to the office computer and plan tomorrow.

A day at the shop

Open. Sell. Restock. Repeat.

Every day runs from opening at 8am to closing time, then the daily report shows exactly where the money went.

Order

Browse the wholesale Market on the office computer. Quotes drift with demand, and cases arrive at the loading bay the next morning.

Stock

Carry boxes onto the floor and fill the shelves: new games in cubbies, consoles in the glass case, used stock on its own rack.

Sell

Scan each item, then take cash and count the change or key in the card total. Keep the queue moving or customers walk out.

Review

Close up and read the daily report: sales, trade-ins, wages, rent and tax. Earn XP, level up and unlock what comes next.

Shelves to fill

Every case has a cover

Street Racer, Zombie Kill, Snow Xtreme, Puppy Pals, Galaxy Raiders and more, each in its platform's own box. Several titles share a board, and shoppers pick what suits their console and their budget.

  • Games, consoles, controllers, memory cards, headsets, PC gear, VR and energy drinks
  • Shoppers only buy for consoles they own, so stock for your street
  • Empty shelves cost sales: the report counts missed demand

Trade-ins

Haggle for the good stuff

Install the Trade-In Desk and collectors start bringing in their old games and consoles. Offer a share of the current used value: too low twice and they storm out. Pay in cash or store credit, then price the pre-owned stock for a healthy margin.

  • Retro values climb once a console stops being made
  • Refurbish damaged finds on the Repair Bench for a better price
  • Collector requests and a one-day collector fair reward a well-stocked used shelf

Staff

Hire a crew

When the queue gets long, hire help. Cashiers run the till on their own and stockers carry deliveries from the back room to the shelves, then bin the empty boxes. Set their shifts by the hour and the day, and pay their wages at closing.

  • Cashiers scan, take payment and even accept trade-ins
  • Stockers unload cases, restock and tidy the stockroom
  • A weekly schedule per employee
Console generations

Six consoles. Four generations.

All brands are made up, but the market isn't. Consoles launch, peak and go retro while you play, and demand for their games moves with them.

Generation 1

Pixel

The original 8-bit box. Long retired, and its cartridges are collector bait.

Generation 2

Voltage 16

The 16-bit classic with Sci Fi Space 16 and Moto Rush 16. A staple of the retro shelf.

Generation 2 · handheld

Pocket Pixel

The pocket handheld everyone once owned, and everyone now wants back.

Generation 3

Nexus 2

Today's best seller when you open. Enjoy it while it lasts: it goes retro around day 20.

Generation 4

Nexus 5

The new flagship, still climbing towards its peak. Big-ticket consoles, thin margins.

Day 8 launch Generation 4

Voltage X

Launches on day 8 with three days of launch hype. Have it on the shelves when the doors open.
